WORKING TOGETHER
During our 28 years of business, Mike's Carpet Care, Incorporated, has been very fortunate to have survived numerous ups
and downs associated with being self-employed. We believe this means that we have a responsibility to sow back into our
community to make it a better place. We also recognize the fact that we cannot do as much alone as we can together.
Therefore, we endeavor to partner with numerous other organizations to create greater impact by pooling our many different
gifts and resources. We believe that many people would like to become part of the solution but may not know where to start,
so we're going to begin to feature some of these organizations. We hope that you will find a place where you could plug in.
THE FRONT PORCH
I think most of us would agree that poverty and homelessness has attained epidemic proportions. We cannot drive through
any city without being confronted by desperate people and it simply isn't working to hide our head in the sand and avert our
gaze when so many are being affected. Unfortunately most people don't quite know what to do about the problem, and it’s
easy to judge these people without knowing their story. Until someone has actually experienced the devastation of being
unable to resolve the situations that can lead to homelessness, the tendency is to assume they're homeless because of poor
choices. Sadly, that is often not the case; so, today we're going to feature an organization in Loveland, Colorado, which is
working together with the City of Loveland and other ministries to offer support to people who are often judged as unworthy
of our time. The Front Porch is about offering a hand up as opposed to just a handout. The Front Porch ministry serves
nutritious midday meals Monday through Friday, and when weather is below 20°, they also serve as an emergency shelter.
They provide laundry and shower facilities, personal hygiene items and warm clothing, as well as, a listening ear, comfort, and
counseling. This ministry is able to do what they do because of many churches and countless volunteers that have chosen to
work together to share the compassion of Jesus with the less fortunate, hurting and homeless community. Since its inception,
Front Porch has served over 90,000 meals. That’s a lot of hands and hearts that have committed to doing what we believe
Jesus would do.
The Front Porch family is about offering support without judgment. Learn more about this ministry at
